Share a model with pupils

A link or a QR code that opens a model for pupils, with no account, on the school's licence.

A link for pupils opens one model, or one article, for a class. Pupils need no account, and Foxar+ opens for them on the school's licence.

Who can make one

A teacher who is a member of a school, once Foxar has switched on Links for pupils for that school. The Share menu then shows Link for pupils. When it does not, the school's manager can ask Foxar for it.

There is no pupil link and no board or screen link without a school: the entries belong to schools for which a Foxar admin switched them on.

The Share menu still gives the link, the QR code and a link without navigation. They pass on what the reader already sees, and open nothing more.

  1. Open the model or the article, press Share, then Link for pupils.

  2. Choose how long it lasts: tonight, 7 days, the end of the school year or a date. The school may set a maximum length, and the link never goes beyond it.

  3. Keep or change the display (without navigation by default) and the places (40 pupils at once by default).

  4. For a model, Open the 3D model automatically lands the pupil in the model, on the chosen section, instead of its page. It is off by default.

  5. Show the QR code full screen, or copy the address.

On the pupils' side

Pupils scan the QR code or type the address, with nothing to sign in. The model opens, with a pill that names the school and the last day of the link.

  • Foxar+ models open for a pupil only through a pupil link, through a class paid by the school, or through a link a Foxar admin made. A teacher’s own subscription does not open them.

  • A pupil link works for as long as the teacher chose, and for as many pupils at once as the teacher allowed (40 by default). When it stops, a message says that the link no longer opens the model.

  • The restricted content of a school is never opened for a pupil with no account, whatever the link.

The link is checked again every time it opens. It stops opening when it ends, when it is revoked, when its author leaves the school, or when Foxar switches the school's option off.

The teacher revokes a link from My account, My links. The school's managers see the links of every teacher, and can revoke them too.

Link for pupils
  • Free
  • Foxar+ (On what the door names)

A teacher of a school that allows it shares one maquette or one article. Pupils open it with no account, and Foxar+ opens for them on the school’s licence. A « Whole school » link opens the school’s home instead of one maquette, and an optional first name keeps the quiz results.

To set it up

  1. In the app, open the maquette or article, then Share, then Link for pupils (the entry appears only if the school allows it).
  2. Choose the end (tonight, 7 days, end of the school year, a date), the display (without navigation by default) and the places (40 at once by default).
  3. For a maquette, Open the 3D model automatically (off by default) lands the pupil in the maquette, on the chosen section, instead of its page.
  4. Show the QR code full screen, or copy the address app.foxar.org/d/<code>.
  5. For the whole school: Account, My links, Link for the school’s pupils, then pick the school. The end offered is the end of the school year, « Free navigation » is on, and « First name for quizzes » is on too when the school allows it.
  6. Results (in My links, or for a manager in the board): a table per pupil, filter by maquette, CSV export, deleting a pupil.

To use it

  1. Scan the QR code or type the address: no sign-in.
  2. The maquette opens, with a pill « Link from <School> · until … ».
  3. With the whole-school link, the school’s home opens, with the « School » entry of the menu.
  4. At the end of the first quiz, « Keep this result? » asks for a first name or nickname (« Keep the results » or « Not now »). Once named, the next quizzes are kept without a question; with no name, nothing leaves the browser.
  5. If the link no longer stands, a message says it no longer opens the maquette.
Account
No account. Pupils: no account. The teacher: signed in, a member of the school.
What it opens
Opens the shared maquette (or the maquettes of the shared article) if it is the school’s non-restricted content or the public catalogue. The whole-school link (scope school) opens the school’s home, with no starting target, with the « School » entry of the menu. Never restricted content, never another school’s content. No licence seat is reserved.
Who creates it
A teacher who is a member of a school where a Foxar admin switched on « Links for pupils ». The whole-school link also needs the switch « Link for the whole school » (pupilLinksSchoolWide).
Who uses it
The pupils, with no account.
Who pays
The school, through its pupils pool.
Seats and limits
40 places at once by default (or active devices), adjustable. Each link is checked again at every opening. It runs on the school’s « Pupil roll » pool, which must hold a live key. The whole-school link also needs the switch « Link for the whole school », checked again at every opening: switched off, the link opens nothing. « First name for quizzes » needs the switch of the same name (pupilQuizNamesEnabled), off by default; each device gets a random pupil token kept in its browser, with no account, no IP address and no user agent.
Expiry
Chosen by the teacher: tonight, 7 days, end of the school year or a date. The school can set a maximum duration. The whole-school link defaults to « The end of the school year ».
How it is stopped
The teacher revokes in My links. Managers see teachers’ links in the board, revoke or delete them. When the teacher leaves the school, their pupil links stop opening (the board marks them « Author left »). A Foxar admin can switch the school’s option off. Named results are seen by the link’s author and by the school’s managers. They are erased 30 days after the link ends (expiry, revocation or a switch turned off), at once if the link is deleted, and at once when the pupil chooses « Stop keeping » or a teacher or manager deletes the pupil.
Where it is set up
App: Share menu, Link for pupils; Account, My links, Link for the school’s pupils (Edit: the automatic opening; Results) / Board: Admin: organization, Links for pupils (the two switches). Managers: the list of links, tag Whole school, Results
