Manage a school
What a school's managers do on board.foxar.org: members, licences, display profiles, rooms, and the links made by teachers.
A manager runs the organization with the rights a Foxar admin delegated. The doors a manager sees depend on those rights. What people call a school administrator is a manager holding many of them.
Rights
Managing members, licences, display profiles and rooms are separate rights.
A manager can make a display profile open Foxar+ only with the right to grant Foxar+, and with the licence right to attach a licence.
A profile for which a Foxar admin switched Foxar+ on is locked for managers.
Links for pupils, Link for the whole school and First name for quizzes are switched on by Foxar, at the school's request, not by a manager.
The links made by teachers
A manager sees the pupil links and the board or screen links made by the school’s teachers, with their author, and can revoke or delete them. A manager cannot edit them.
A link for the whole school carries the tag Whole school in the list. The Results button opens the pupils who gave a first name for the quizzes of that link (first name, quizzes finished, trophies, last activity). A manager can delete a pupil there, which erases the first name and the results at once. Reading the results needs one of the display rights (manage, view or statistics), and deleting a pupil needs the right to manage.
A board or screen link carries the tag Board or screen in the list. It belongs to the school and keeps working when its author leaves the school. The list then shows a warning, Author left, and a note: revoke the link if the school no longer wants it.
A pupil link whose author left carries the same warning, but it has already stopped opening anything.
Names and results are erased 30 days after the link ends, whatever the cause.
The two kinds of licence group
In the board, every licence group has a type. A school usually holds both.
People: one licence is one person, who holds a key. This is the group for staff and teachers.
Pupil roll: the number is the roll the school declares. Pupils are never counted one by one.
Some rules follow from the type.
A pupil roll group needs one live key. The key’s dates open and close the pupils’ access, and nobody receives the key.
Classes, pupil links and board or screen links all run on the pupil roll group.
An ordinary display profile can only carry a People group. A pupil roll group is refused there.
A staff member is never seated on a pupil roll group.
In detail
Every door a manager runs, with who makes it, who uses it, what it opens, who pays, the limits, the end, how to stop it and where it is set up.

Link for pupilsRuns- FFree
- +Foxar+ (On what the door names)
A teacher of a school that allows it shares one maquette or one article. Pupils open it with no account, and Foxar+ opens for them on the school’s licence. A « Whole school » link opens the school’s home instead of one maquette, and an optional first name keeps the quiz results.
Sees teachers’ links, revokes or deletes them.
To set it up
- In the app, open the maquette or article, then Share, then Link for pupils (the entry appears only if the school allows it).
- Choose the end (tonight, 7 days, end of the school year, a date), the display (without navigation by default) and the places (40 at once by default).
- For a maquette, Open the 3D model automatically (off by default) lands the pupil in the maquette, on the chosen section, instead of its page.
- Show the QR code full screen, or copy the address app.foxar.org/d/<code>.
- For the whole school: Account, My links, Link for the school’s pupils, then pick the school. The end offered is the end of the school year, « Free navigation » is on, and « First name for quizzes » is on too when the school allows it.
- Results (in My links, or for a manager in the board): a table per pupil, filter by maquette, CSV export, deleting a pupil.
To use it
- Scan the QR code or type the address: no sign-in.
- The maquette opens, with a pill « Link from <School> · until … ».
- With the whole-school link, the school’s home opens, with the « School » entry of the menu.
- At the end of the first quiz, « Keep this result? » asks for a first name or nickname (« Keep the results » or « Not now »). Once named, the next quizzes are kept without a question; with no name, nothing leaves the browser.
- If the link no longer stands, a message says it no longer opens the maquette.
- Account
- No account. Pupils: no account. The teacher: signed in, a member of the school.
- What it opens
- Opens the shared maquette (or the maquettes of the shared article) if it is the school’s non-restricted content or the public catalogue. No licence seat is reserved.
- Who creates it

- Who uses it
- The pupils, with no account.
- Who pays
- The school, through its pupils pool.
- Seats and limits
- 40 places at once by default (or active devices), adjustable. Each link is checked again at every opening. It runs on the school’s « Pupil roll » pool, which must hold a live key. The whole-school link also needs the switch « Link for the whole school », checked again at every opening: switched off, the link opens nothing. « First name for quizzes » needs the switch of the same name (pupilQuizNamesEnabled), off by default; each device gets a random pupil token kept in its browser, with no account, no IP address and no user agent.
- Expiry
- Chosen by the teacher: tonight, 7 days, end of the school year or a date. The school can set a maximum duration. The whole-school link defaults to « The end of the school year ».
- How it is stopped
- The teacher revokes in My links. Managers see teachers’ links in the board, revoke or delete them. When the teacher leaves the school, their pupil links stop opening (the board marks them « Author left »). A Foxar admin can switch the school’s option off. Named results are seen by the link’s author and by the school’s managers. They are erased 30 days after the link ends (expiry, revocation or a switch turned off), at once if the link is deleted, and at once when the pupil chooses « Stop keeping » or a teacher or manager deletes the pupil.
- Where it is set up
